Grow Runner Beans for Fresh Pods or Seeds | Sowing, Harvest & No Dig Tips

2026-05-14 7 Dailymotion

Runner beans, Phaseolus coccineus, are a wonder food. Throughout the second half of summer and into early autumn, they produce an abundance of green pods , when well watered.

I show also how you can grow runner the plants for dry beans, to store and eat later. You’ll see sowing timings, planting methods, spacing, watering, and how to decide whether to harvest early green pods, or leave pods to mature fully on the plant.

When you leave the pods to dry, the seeds inside them are both delicious and nutritious - high in protein and low in carbohydrates. Be sure to boil them for a minimum 10 minutes.
The flavour of these Czar beans is quite wondrous.
